In a new step towards sustainable garments, Gobik has launched in its summer collection the line CX PRO Land. "It is the first stone on our path towards sustainability" presents Angel Lencina, production manager of the company. Gobik.
"It is a version of the "CX PROIt is a version of the model "with minimum environmental impact," continues Ángel, "which reflects the effort of Gobik to implement recycled materials across the board in its collections".
The basis of the garment
It all starts with the recycled polyester fabric used in the manufacture of the jerseyIt is a fabric with the same technical characteristics as any other virgin polyester fabric. The main difference lies in the fact that it is obtained from recycled polyester fibers, thus contributing to a lower environmental impact in its manufacture".
In other words, there are two types of benefits for the environment:
- On the one hand "we reuse materials present, for example, in PET plastic bottles or polyester fabrics, giving them a second life" says Angel.
- On the other hand, "CO2 emissions are reduced by 75% compared to the manufacture of virgin polyester. The PET polyester or polyester fabric is selected and crushed to obtain the fibers and then the yarn can be manufactured and woven".
All in all, "recycled polyester does not require new oil for its manufacture, thus reducing our environmental footprint," concludes Ángel.
The CX PRO Land in the summer collection
The jerseys made with this pattern are "the first stone on a path towards sustainability, as the idea is to gradually replace all our raw materials with recycled alternatives". Right now there are two versions unisex made on this material in a creativity that is very identifiable with the aesthetic Gobik:
CX PRO Land Cluster | CX PRO Land Nebula |
But there are also the jerseys of the recently celebrated Nove Colli (Cesenatico) in collaboration with Sitip and its recycled fabrics of the line Native Sustainable Textiles.
Angel says that in addition, "we are certified by thebluesign® certificate certificate for a supply chain that is safe for workers and has minimal environmental impact. And we use fabrics Meryl® free of solvent chemicals and ensure zero contamination of the oceans by microplastics."
This is intended to be consistent with some of the claims that Gobik The company thus aims to be consistent with some of the claims it launches in its products, promoting values such as respect and integration with the environment, friendship, companionship, sports, ethics, desire for change and improvement, social action and, of course, environmental action.
For the future, Ángel points out that "our idea is to introduce recycled materials in our articles and reduce the amount of waste and emissions, from the packaging to the garment itself".
