Pavel Sivakov wins the Vuelta a Burgos 2022

The rider of Russian origin nationalized French Pavel Sivakov (Team Ineos) was the winner of the Vuelta a Burgos 2022, after finishing third in the fifth stage that took place in Las Lagunas de Neila.

It came to this last stage with everything to be decided and with the Ineos team defending the jersey purple leader.

After a first part with countless attacks and tactical movements, the peloton crossed Quintanar de la Sierra, with the swords up and looking to neutralize Carlos Canal, who arrived alone at the foot of the final pass, Lagunas de Neila, special category.

Attacks by the strongest riders, such as Juanpe López (Trek) and Chris Harper (Jumbo), began to follow one after the other. But none managed to resist the Ineos train, led by the Spanish champion Carlos Rodriguez, who gave a real recital on the hardest ramps (up to 18%) to leave the leader Sivakov alone with Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana).

In the last kilometer also appeared Joao Almeida (UAE), who with his usual progression from less to more, managed to catch both and star in a spectacular attack achieving the stage victory. Lopez came second and Sivakov third, managing his income to secure the final victory.

Fourth victory as a professional for the French-Russian and final podium shared with Almeida, who was second and Superman Lopez, third.
