The luck of crossing paths along the way
At Gobik, we firmly believe that what makes a company great is its people, the individuals who make it up, and today we want to tell you the story of one of the longest-serving members of our family, Pato.
Pato is Argentinian and had the courage, at 30 years old, to leave behind his home and family to embark on a new adventure in Spain. That was 17 years ago, and although it took 10 years for Pato and Gobik’s paths to cross, today, with just over 7 years at the company, he is one of the lucky ones who has seen a group that at the time consisted of just over 30 people grow to more than 200.
This is precisely one of the values our protagonist tries to instill in new team members: the effort, work, and sacrifice made by so many people to help Gobik grow every day. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Pato is one of the people who deal with orders in the warehouse every day. That’s how his time at Gobik began, and that’s how it continues, putting his extensive experience and expertise to the benefit of everyone. He tells us that 7 years ago, only 3 or 4 packages were going out each day, nothing like the volumes handled today. So much so that when he joined, no one else was in charge of the warehouse, whereas now he leads a team of 10 people. A progression that is no coincidence, as Pato explains, highlighting the strong drive for improvement that is lived and breathed within the company. A constant effort to improve in every aspect, from employee training to equipment and the workplace itself, at Gobik there is always a desire to go one step further in order to improve every day.
As could not be otherwise, we had to ask him about his passion for cycling, something he lists as one of his pending tasks for next year. And, like any good Argentinian, football has always been the number one sport at home, but his son’s passion for cycling is what has encouraged Pato to take up this wonderful passion that is so capable of bringing people together over thousands and thousands of kilometers.
