Alive Inside: Cycling as a shared experience

Alive Inside: El ciclismo como experiencia compartida

Alive Inside is not just a cycling team. It is a chosen family, a group of friends spread across eastern Germany and united by something much bigger than races: the need to experience cycling together.

The collective is made up of about 15 people from cities like Dresden, Leipzig, or Berlin. Different backgrounds, same codes. What began in 2021 as a way not to attend fixed gear crits alone ended up becoming a solid project based on mutual support, shared trips, and that constant feeling of “we’ve got you”, both on and off the bike.

More than riding: creating memories

For Alive Inside, cycling is neither an obsession nor a matter of ego. It is a perfect excuse to have fun, to push personal limits when it's time to compete, and to build memories that remain alive months later.

When they pin on a race number, the commitment is total. But the priority is always the same: to enjoy the process, support each other as a group, and keep things light even in the most intense moments.

Events that feel different

Twice a year, Alive Inside organizes its own events, and both perfectly reflect their way of understanding cycling.

In spring comes BACK TO TRACK, a track event at the Leipzig velodrome. Later, THIS IS NOT BROOKLYN transforms the rooftop of a parking garage in Dresden into one of the most iconic fixed gear crits and road races on the European scene.

Those who have participated usually highlight the same thing: the atmosphere. The attention to detail, the welcoming vibe, and the feeling that everything is done with real passion.

A shared territory

Although they don't have a fixed base, Dresden and the Saxon Switzerland region are key spots when the group gets together. The landscape is spectacular and the elevation appears almost without looking for it, turning every ride into a perfect mix of enjoyment and shared suffering.

There is even a route that, for them, sums it all up: a loop from Dresden through Saxon Switzerland where views, adventure, and that collective energy of “we go together, no matter what” all combine.

Coffee, cake, and rituals

In Leipzig there is an almost mandatory stop: Franz Morish. Philipp, one of the team members, works there, and it's the ideal place to end any route with good coffee, the best cake, and, of course, a bag of coffee beans tucked into the jersey pocket to take home.

Visiting the origins of Gobik

Recently, Alive Inside visited the Gobik factory and got to know the origins of the brand up close. What impressed them most was the people. The closeness, the hospitality, and the opportunity to work hand in hand with the design team while developing their own jersey made the experience especially meaningful.

They were also surprised by the scale of the project and the fact that much of the production process happens right there. Seeing firsthand how ideas turn into real garments finished shaping something they already felt as their own.

A design that speaks for itself

The Alive Inside kit was born with a clear idea: to create something timeless, recognizable, and different, even at full speed in a crit. The purple lightning bolt has become a hallmark. It only takes a second to spot it flying by in an attack.

Besides the competition jersey, the collective designs almost every year a community jersey, open to anyone who connects with their aesthetic and philosophy. The purple, the team color, has led to everything from tie-dye designs to a new abstract version in purple and green that will be released soon.

Over time, the design has evolved towards a cleaner aesthetic, carefully placing the logos and highlighting the brands that support the project.

Looking to the future

Right now, Alive Inside is immersed in preparing the next edition of BACK TO TRACK, while the planning of THIS IS NOT BROOKLYN is already starting to take shape for the spring.

The support from Gobik—from prizes to presence at events—has been constant from the beginning, and for the collective it means a lot to have a brand that believes in their way of understanding cycling.

Because in the end, Alive Inside isn't just about riding fast. It's about sharing the road, creating something of your own, and showing that cycling, when experienced in community, stays deep inside.
