Inside Gobik Band - Julian Ferrero

A biologist at Gobik

What is a biologist doing working at Gobik? This is the question that many would probably ask themselves when they learn that Julián Ferrero, who is part of the Product Development department, actually studied Biology in Alicante. Well, the answer is provided by Julian himself, "Well, it's a long story because I am a biologist. I studied biology in Alicante and when I finished my degree I started working in a textile institute in Alcoy, I spent a couple of years and a half in a department focused on the analysis of garments and fabrics, on their thermal insulation and breathability. At the same time, I was already competing in mountain biking, cycling in general, and I became part of the Gobik Factory Teamwhich is the company's factory team. From there I got to know José, Alberto and the rest of my teammates. They knew that I worked in a textile institute and that's when they suggested I work here.

Julián's passion for cycling

As they say, "the goat goes to the mountain", and although Julián studied Biology, his passion for cycling was the link between him and Gobik. A passion that he continues to develop today, although not as much as he would like, "my hobby today is cycling, both mountain biking and road. However, I'm a little bit, not out of the way, but with my foot up because of a knee injury. This has forced me to stop, but well, it's still my main hobby". After telling us that he likes both mountain biking and road, we had to ask him the star question, which of the two do you like more, "yes it is true that mountain biking pulls me a little more and is where I focus my efforts".

Julián's skin carries the Gobik brand.

Going back to Gobik, although without leaving cycling aside, you will be curious to know with what brand I wear and what I like the most. jersey we had to ask him, obviously, and his answer was quite conclusive, "it would be a Infinityof cut ultra fit and super racing". In the end, working in the Product Development department means that he knows perfectly the different collections of the brand. Now, what exactly Julián is in charge of, he tells us himself, "I am in charge of developing and perfecting the wide range of accessories that Gobik offers, such as gloves, socks, and a long list, it is a great satisfaction to see how they fill the roads and even some of the main World Tour stages."

Julian has been with the company for 3 years now, and he remembers very well how the company has changed over time and, obviously, based on the growth that Gobik has achieved. "When I joined, I remember that we were about 130 workers, now we are almost 200, if I'm not mistaken, and the truth is that with the new reforms and the redistribution at departmental level and everything, it seems like a totally new company".

Q&A

What music is not missing in your Spotify? Indie in general, Viva Suecia.

Series or movies? Series.

Wine or beer? I'm not a fan of either, but I'd say white wine.

Tour, Giro or Vuelta? I rule out the Giro, but in the end the Vuelta allows you to go, for us as Spaniards to experience it more closely... without having to travel a lot, it allows you to enjoy professional cycling in first person, more easily.
