Inside Gobik Band - Sergio Muñoz

"We started working with regional champions and the growth has been continuous and constant. Today we continue with all of them, but we are also working with teams such as Movistar Team and being part of the women's cycling boom", says Sergio Muñoz, who in a soccer club will be Gobik's "partner nº3".

He joined the company together with the two founders, José Ramón Ortín and Alberto García, ten years ago, at the age of 26, with the unprecedented experience of opening the door "and not seeing anyone in the factory".

An anecdote from that time: "I started working at the end of November and the three of us were at the company Christmas dinner. Today the company dinner brings together almost 200 people".

The first designer

Sergio had known José Ramón for a long time, they had even worked together. When he returned to Yecla after his design studies, he wanted to start a small studio on his own, but he got the call from the "new" Gobik: "It could have been a kind of interview, but it was nothing like that. They asked me what I was doing, they needed a designer and that's how it all started, from scratch".

Sergio can say that "at Gobik, especially with Alberto, we made ourselves. We didn't come from the clothing world and we started from the beginning, always growing, the result of that curiosity that we have never lacked, both on a personal level and on a brand level, always looking for ways to improve".

Participating in exponential growth

An illustrative fact: "When we made the design and prepared the patterns, I would take each piece down to the factory to iron it. Then I used the plotter to print once or twice a week. I remember it was on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Today, we have several plotters that don't stop printing 24 hours a day."

What about that Sergio?

"Gobik has changed me completely, it has forged me as a professional and as a person. I learned a lot of things at Gobik. I joined when I was very young, I took my first steps here, and today I have a job I'm very proud of. I look back and I see the road with its hard moments and other very rewarding ones, like meeting people like Alberto Contador, important people for this sport with whom we work, who come to the factory and are interested in knowing in detail what we do".

Sergio leads the design department, "the core of Custom Works" among other things. With him, there are 22 professionals who "I am very proud to see how they work on each project. Their technical and graphic level is top notch. It's a pleasure to watch them work".

He describes the process: "We receive the client's information, prepare the proposals and make changes until we reach the design the client expects, always trying to leave our visual mark".

"We like big projects, with renown, but also small groups. They are joy and enthusiasm and that is transmitted in emails and phone calls. They are eager for their project to succeed. The company is recognized and loved, and that makes me happy," he continues.

This is how they see Gobik

In each project, we work together with the customer in a climate of collaboration and cooperation," Sergio explains. They see us as a quality product, with powerful colors, gradients and geometric shapes, very characteristic. We work for people who are passionate about their sport.

He is a wide clothing, enduro and downhill rider: "More downhill than uphill, looking for the limit in every curve, only thinking about the trail, without distractions".
