There's something in the Vuelta a Burgos that makes it beloved among the younger public who grew up savoring this cycling among ochre hillsides and under a Castilian sun, generously illuminating the August afternoons.
This fondness comes perhaps because of the period of its celebration, August, after the Tour de Francefor some years now, with the Vuelta on the horizon and the sweet memory of memorable duels in the sun between legends such as Marino Lejarreta y Miguel Indurainamong Abraham Olano and Chava Jimenez or more recently with Nairo, Contador, Landa e Iván Ramiro Sosathe light and temperamental Colombian who has won the last two editions.
On GobikThe Murcian firm, "there are sentimental ties with Burgos," says Gino Dona, Brand Manager of the brand, ties that added to the "interest in growing in professional cycling" have squared the circle.
As we well know, this 2020 is not a typical year, the coronavirus that came to turn everything upside down and took the bulk of the campaign to the final part of the year, beyond the month of August and into November.
Burgos is the first in the post Covid19 cycling.
"We show interest in all kinds of competitions related to professional cycling, both teams, with a quality service throughout the year, and competitions in which we are moving forward. A Vuelta a Valencia, Itzulia y Voltawe now add Burgos"Gino adds.
Closing the Tour of Burgos "we already have a good representation in the Spanish calendar, with two World Tourand two medium-sized tours," says Gino. Burgos is a classic among Tour and Vuelta a Españaand with it we wanted to give continuity in August to all the winter work".
2020 brings a plus of protagonism: "This year is very special, because of everything we have experienced, and Burgos has become an opportunity for extra repercussion. First of the European calendar and the eagerness of the cyclists to compete".
That it is the starting point of the season scheduled from the end of July is an opportunity that "should be thanked to the organizers, a deputation that ensures that it is done, and this is something to review, if it does is because it believes in cycling, both women and men. Come cycling as an ally to return to normality."Gino continues.
But it's not easy, "it's a poisoned prize, with protocols to be applied that have not been tested before. Without wishing to be significant, you have to be brave to make this decision".
Gobik in professional cycling
The brand does not hide its interest in "continuing to grow, we need to be in as many places as possible, both for touring, amateur and professional cycling. It would be a dream to reach a grand tour," says Gino.
For this edition of the Vuelta a Burgos, Gobik has a clothing plan similar to that of the other races: "There are two models of jerseyThere are two models, the one for the podium and the one for the competition. jerseyWe have two models of clothing, the podium and the competition model. Volta or Valencia, and vests.
The edition of jerseys The Vuelta a Burgos leader's vests are exclusively for the use of the wearers during the race.
The best will meet in Burgos
Against this backdrop, the Tour of Burgos 2020 is important, but above all special, because its start, on July 28, will mean the start of the renewed cycling campaign, a unique edition, with all eyes on what happens during those five days of hot summer in Burgos: it is the first race in the new normality.
A crossroads which has made it desired by many, with an exceptional participation, worthy of the moment, with twelve World Tour at the start, which will be installed at the square of the cathedral of Burgosthe gothic wonder in stone, beyond the arch of Santa Maria.
In this sign it is foreseen Alejandro Valverde, Enric Mas, Richard Carapaz, Remco Evenepoel, Adam Yates, Steven Kruijswijk, Nairo Quintana, Miguel Ángel López and world champion Mads Pedersen.
