All projects from the Gobik Custom team are genuine, but there is something special about working hand in hand with local distributors who understand cycling from the inside. Custom projects are not only born from a technical or aesthetic idea, but from the joint work between the brand, a passionate distributor who acts as a guide, and a riding group with its own identity.
On this occasion, we head to Mexico, specifically Monterrey (Nuevo León), to discover the story of Maverick Cycling and the key support of Chelini Bikes, the point of sale that serves as a bridge to transform concepts and ideas into high-performance kits.
Chelini Bikes: The link to the local community
For a retailer like Chelini Bikes, supporting a team in the creation of its kit goes far beyond a commercial transaction; it is a process where empathy and passion for cycling make the difference.
"Chelini Bikes is total passion. We approach every customization with the same enthusiasm as if it were our own custom project. Being cyclists, it is easy to understand the customer and put ourselves in their shoes", they explain from the store.

"When you see the project finished and you see the riding groups rolling out in matching kit, you appreciate the value of the whole process. For us, creating this type of kit is key because it gives identity, a sense of belonging, and strengthens the local cycling culture. In addition, it helps us position Gobik in the minds of everyone who sees them riding in a custom kit made by the brand".
The story of Maverick Cycling
Founded eight years ago on the initiative of a group of cyclists from Monterrey, Maverick Cycling emerged with a clear mission: to promote cycling culture in Monterrey and build community.
For Maverick, Saturdays are sacred. It is the day of the long ride and mandatory kit: "During the week it is difficult to coordinate because of routine, but Saturdays are special. There may be a race, a hill climb time trial, or simply a coffee ride to enjoy. We want to convey unity and promote cycling in Monterrey; it is something that identifies us as the 'Mavs': we organize three races a year and bring people together in a healthy and competitive way".

When it came to translating that attitude into their custom kit with Gobik, the riding group was looking for a modern, understated, and elegant aesthetic. Their graphic inspiration draws directly from nature and its natural elements:
"Our designs are inspired by stones and textures from the surroundings, and for this occasion we wanted to use clay and anthracite tones".
Beyond the visual aspect, the climate and demands of Nuevo León require garments that perform in extreme conditions: "What we value most about Gobik is the fit of the bibs, the race cut of the jerseys, and the quality and durability of the colors".
Cycling route around Monterrey
The surroundings of Monterrey offer an impressive setting for road and mountain biking, with stretches where the Maverick peloton feels right at home:
For climbing: Iconic spots such as Chipinque in San Pedro, Puerto Genovevo in Santiago, or the tough gradients of Rayones in Allende.
Criterium and time trial: Fast stretches in Huasteca or "La Lateral".
Queen stage: The demanding terrain of Arteaga, Coahuila.
Stop for a great specialty coffee: To recharge midway through or at the end of the route, the must-stop for the Maverick group is Café Unamuno.

A true cyclist’s paradise where passion, design, and teamwork come together in every kilometer ridden.
Thanks to the Maverick family and Chelini Bikes for opening the doors to their territory.
